Leona R. Currey, 87, of Leavittsburg, died 7:30 AM Thursday April 2, 2009 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a lengthy Illness.

She was born Sept.13, 1921 in Nutter Fort, West Virginia the daughter of J. Lee and Rachel (Minney) Jeffries.

A Trumbull County resident since 1948 coming from Nutter Fort, she was a loving and devoted homemaker. She was a member of TOPS where she won many awards, the Leavittsburg Homemakers, and the American Iris Society. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and also won awards for her quilting.

Leona married her beloved husband Clair M. Currey April 29, 1942 and they shared 56 years of marriage until his death in 1998. She also was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers Herbert and James Jeffries.

She will be sadly missed by her 3 children; James Earl Currey of Newton Falls, OH, Rebecca Shauver of Newton Falls, Judith (Albert) Billock of Braceville, 4 grandchildren; Tracey (Arnie) Binion of McDonald, Timothy Shauver of Newton Falls, Jeffrey (Gwen) Currey, Michael (Linda) Currey both of Phoenix, AZ and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday April 6, 2009 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 5-7 Sunday. Pastor Scott Praxl will officiate .Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
